The Fourth Wife

Image
There was a rich merchant who had 4 wives. He loved the 4th wife the most and adorned her with rich robes and treated her to delicacies. He took great care of her and gave her nothing but the best. He also loved the 3rd wife very much. He's very proud of her and always wanted to show off her to his friends. However, the merchant is always in great fear that she might run away with some other men. He too, loved his 2nd wife. She is a very considerate person, always patient and in fact is the merchant's confidante. Whenever the merchant faced some problems, he always turned to his 2nd wife and she would always help him out and tide him through difficult times. Now, the merchant's 1st wife is a very loyal partner and has made great  contributions in maintaining his wealth and business as well as taking care of the household. However, the merchant did not love the first wife and although she loved him deeply, he hardly took notice of her. One day, the merchant fell ill. Before...

Neither Logical nor Legal

Image
A young Law student, having failed his Law exam, goes up to his crusty old professor, who is renowned for his razor-sharp legal mind.  Student : "Sir, do you really understand everything about this subject?"   Professor : "Actually, I probably do. Otherwise I wouldn't be a professor, would I?" Student : "OK. So I’d like to ask you a question. If you can give me the correct answer, I will accept my marks as it is. If you can't give me the correct answer, however, you'll have to give me an "A". Professor : "Hmmmm, alright. So what’s the question?" Student : "What is legal but not logical, logical but not legal, and neither logical nor legal? " The professor wracks his famous brain, but just can't crack the answer. Finally he gives up and changes the student's failing mark into an "A" as agreed, and the student goes away, very pleased. The professor continues to wrack his brain over the question a...

Enhancing Relationships - III

Personal Perception: Different people have different perception. One man's meat could be another man's poison. A Farm and his son bought a donkey from the market. On the way home, a boy commented, "Very stupid. Why neither of them ride on the donkey?" Upon hearing that, the father let the son ride on the donkey. He walked besides them. Later, an old man saw it and commented, "Selfish Child. How can a young son ride on the donkey while father is on foot?" Hearing this, the son quickly got down and let father ride on the donkey. Further on the way home, they met an old Lady. She commented, "How can the man ride on the donkey but let the little child walk. He has no feelings." The father thus quickly asked his son to join him on the donkey. Then, they met a young man. He commented,  hold up the weight of two persons. They are cruel to you. "Hearing that, the father and son both immediately climbed down from the donkey and carried it on their shou...

Creating Perfect Relationships: A person visited the government matchmaker for marriage, SDU, and requested "I am looking for a spouse. Please help me to find a suitable one." The SDU officer said, "Your requirements, please." "Oh, good looking, polite, humorous , sporty, knowledgeable, good in singing and dancing. Willing to accompany me the whole day at home during my leisure hour, if I don't go out. Telling me interesting stories when I need companion for conversation and be silent when I want to rest." The officer listened carefully and replied, "I understand you need television." There is a saying that a perfect match can only be found between a blind wife and a deaf husband ,because the blind wife cannot see the faults of the husband and the deaf husband cannot hear the nagging of the wife. Many couples are blind and deaf at the courting stage and dream of perpetual perfect relationship. Unfortunately, when the excitement of love wear...

Trust: Trust is a very important factor for all relationships. When trust is broken, it is the end of the relationship. Lack of trust leads to suspicion, suspicion generates anger, anger causes enmity and enmity may result in separation. A telephone operator told me that one day she received a phone call. She answered, "Public Utilities Board." There was silence. She repeated, "PUB." There was still no answer. When she was going to cut off the line, she Heard a lady's voice, "Oh, so this is PUB.  Sorry, I got the number from my Husband's pocket but I do not know whose number it is." Without mutual trust, just imagine what will happen to the couple if the telephone operator answered with just "hello" instead of "PUB". No Pointing Fingers: A man asked his father-in-law, "Many people praised you for a successful marriage. Could you please share with me our secret?" The father-in-law answered in a smile, "Never critic...

Separation Is Not a Solution

There lived a certain Christian couple in a foreign land. The husband became angry quite often over trivial matters. One day he fought with his wife and yelled, Get away from this house now. His wife wept but he would not be moved. He pushed her out and closed the entrance of the house. He comfortably closed the door went inside and had a peaceful slumber. Check your life. The following day, early in the morning, that man got up from sleep and hurried so as to reach the office on time. At that time, he heard a noise in the kitchen. Not only the noise but also a delicious smell came wafting in the air piercing through his nostrils. He thought, ìWho could that be? To his surprise, he found his wife standing there fixing up the breakfast with all delicious stuff that he loves. He asked, ìHow did you get inside? She answered, My dear! You remembered to close the front door but kept the back door open. I gained entry through the back door. Further she continued, ìI thought, you might be ver...
