Health Benefits of Ajwain

Image
It is a common sight in India to see mothers and grandmothers handing out ajwain seeds to family members who have an upset stomach. Carom seeds or bishop's weed also known as ajwain is a common herb found in Indian households and is well known for properties that make it one of the most used home remedies. But other than being a good digestive aid, it has a number of other health benefits. Here are some of them:  1. Beat indigestion and flatulence: Ajwain is packed with tahymol. In fact it's the only plant in the world with the highest amount of thymol. This chemical is very effective in helping the stomach release gastric juices that speed up digestion. It is known to help in cases of indigestion, flatulence, nausea and relieve colicky pain in babies. Tip: Boil a teaspoon of the seeds in a cup of water till it is reduced to half, strain and drink this water for instant relief. Another good remedy for nausea is to take a teaspoonful of the seed and wrap it in a beetle leaf. Pla...

I’m OK, You’re OK - Life Positions

Image
Life positions are basic beliefs about self and others, which are used to justify decisions and behaviour.  Berne in his Book  “I’m OK, you’re OK,”  says the ideal life position to attain is that which puts you in a position to satisfy your needs while being happy that others are able to satisfy their needs. So for all the naysayers of win-win out there who have not bought into Nash and his win-win thinking, pause for a minute and explore Berne and his “I’m OK, you’re OK” mind-set.  Very early experiences of the infant play a deciding role in the establishing  of that person's life position.  Once it is decided upon, a person's life position influences how she thinks, feels,  acts, and relates with others. There are four basic life positions: Position 1. I am OK -- You're OK. Position 2. I'm OK -- You're not-OK. Position 3. I'm not-OK -- You're OK. Position 4. I'm not-OK -- You're not-OK. Eric Berne in his book, “What Do You Say After You Say Hello”,...

Even this shall pass away

Image
Once in Persia reigned a king, Who upon his signet ring Graved a maxim true and wise, Which, if held before his eyes, Gave him counsel at a glance Fit for every change and chance. Solemn words, and these are they, “Even this shall pass away.” Trains of camels through the sand Brought him gems from Samarcand; Fleets of galleys through the seas Brought him pearls to match with these; But he counted not his gain Treasures of the mine or main; “What is wealth?” the king would say; “Even this shall pass away.” ‘Mid the revels of his court, At the zenith of his sport, When the palms of all his guests Burned with clapping at his jests, He, amid his figs and wine, Cried, “O loving friends of mine; Pleasures come, but not to stay, ‘Even this shall pass away. Lady, fairest ever seen, Was the bride he crowned his queen. Pillowed on his marriage bed, Softly to his soul he said: “Though no bridegroom ever pressed Fairer bosom to his breast, Mortal flesh must come to clay Even this shall pass away.”...

Natural Remedies Doctors Use

Reduce wrinkles with seafood  According to researchers at Michigan State University, the key to keeping your skin healthy is to eat six ounces of fish three times weekly. It’ll actually cut wrinkling and sagging by 30 percent. “Fish is packed with protein, minerals and omega-3 fats -- nutrients that nourish the collagen and muscles that keep skin smooth,” says dermatologist Nicholas Perricone, M.D. “My favorite is salmon, because it’s also rich in astaxanthin -- an antioxidant that reduces fine lines and wrinkling.” Fight fatigue with green tea “I keep a pot of green tea on my desk and sip it all day long,” says Vincent Giampapa, M.D., a plastic surgeon in New Jersey. “It keeps me energized and focused, yet it doesn’t give me jitters the way a pot of coffee would!” Green tea has compounds that help your brain use blood sugar for fuel and stimulate the production of energizing hormones called endorphins, say researchers at the University of California, Davis. How Do Shy People Flirt!

Image
15. Silent Witness Shy people will gladly take part in a conversation with their crush, but only as far as listening goes! You might notice that a shy person will never ask questions or delve deeper into your personality or interests - they just simply don't have the courage! Shy people will instead satisfy their curiosity by asking other people about you, or by checking out your social media pages for more information. 14. Cell Phone Flirting You probably realize by now that shy people aren't too great with the whole "flirting face-to-face thing". Another trick shy people use to flirt with is their cell phone or computer. They will find it extremely easy to be flirtatious over text message or via a chat session, but as soon as you see them in person they act disinterested or pretend they didn't see you just to avoid any awkwardness. 13. Favors Galore Have you got a shy friend who seems to always go out of their way to help you? Looks like this friend might have a...

Let Others Be Right Most Of The Time

Image
Being right, defending our positions, takes an enormous amount of mental energy and often alienates us from the people in our lives. Needing to be right — or needing someone else to be wrong — encourages others to become defensive, and puts pressure on us to keep defending. Yet, many of us spend a great deal of time and energy attempting to prove (or point out) that we are right — and/or others are wrong. Many people, consciously or unconsciously, believe that it's somehow their job to show others how their positions, statements, and points of view are incorrect, and that in doing so, the person they are correcting is going to somehow appreciate it. Wrong! Have you ever been corrected by someone and said to the person who was trying to be right, "Thank you so much for showing me that I'm wrong and you're right." Or, has anyone you know ever thanked you when you corrected them, or made yourself "right" at their expense? Of course not. The truth is, all of...

Banana - Did U know?

Image
This is interesting. After reading this, you'll never look at a banana in the same way again. Bananas contain three natural sugars - sucrose, fructose and glucose combined with fiber. A banana gives an instant, sustained and substantial boost of energy.  Research has proven that just two bananas provide enough energy for a strenuous 90-minute workout. No wonder the banana is the number one fruit with the world's leading athletes. But energy isn't the only way a banana can help us keep fit. It can also help overcome or prevent a substantial number of illnesses and conditions, making it a must to add to our daily diet. 1. DEPRESSION: According to a recent survey undertaken by MIND amongst people suffering from depression, many felt much better after eating a banana. This is because bananas contain tryptophan, a type of protein that the body converts into serotonin, known to make you relax, improve your mood and generally make you feel happier. 2. PMS: Forget the pills - eat a...
