He started searching for it frantically & found it on the floor below the ends of a woman's saree. He asked her, "Can you lift your saree? I wanna take photograph".... THE REST IS HISTORY... Four ways to kill a good idea

Image
Buy-inJohn P. Kotter & Lorne A. Whitehead Anguished at the massacring of genuinely good ideas all the time for all sorts of reasons, John P. Kotter and Lorne A. Whitehead have written Buy-in (Harvard) as a guide to building sufficiently strong support around your ideas so that successful action follows. The first part of the book is a story about getting buy-in for an idea – a simple, imaginative, and useful one – but not before it gets ‘slammed again and again with misinformed, unfair, and outrageous concerns and questions, any of which could have wounded or killed it'. Fear-mongering The ‘method' is discussed in the second part of the book, and it begins with ‘four ways to kill a good idea.' Fear-mongering, the most common of the four, is aimed at raising anxieties so that a thoughtful examination of a proposal is very difficult if not impossible, the authors explain. “People begin to worry that implementing a genuinely good plan, pursuing a great idea, or making a ne...

Fast Growth is the Fast Lane to Failure

Image
You will often hear that successful companies grow their business. It might be true that success includes growth but the opposite isn’t necessarily true. Actually, very often the success of a company ends when its growth starts. This might sound a paradox but if you think a bit, such an outcome is quite logical. How Will Growth Affect You? Many companies try to expand fast and beyond control. This leads to nowhere. Additionally, growing your business isn’t always the better option — very often staying small is the most viable alternative because growth can lead to lots of problems. Fortunately, the recession stops many growth enthusiasts but even when there is no more recession, you still need to think a lot before you decide to grow your business, especially if you plan a huge expansion. When a company grows, this inevitably increases its costs. Another problem you will face and you need to think about it in advance is staff. When you grow, you will need more people. Will you be able ...

Can Money Buy Happiness?

Image
Here is some food for thought... May be applicable for us up to some extent if not in totality…   “Yesterday, I was driving, and the FM radio went off for few seconds. I thought, I should have an iPod. Then suddenly I realized that I have not used my iPod in last 6 months. And then… more things, Handy cam in last 2 years, Digital Camera in last 2 months, DVD player in last 1 month and many more. Now I can say that I bought that Handy cam just out of impulse, I have used it twice only in last 4 years. So, whats wrong and where? When I look at myself or my friends I can see it everywhere. We are not happy with what we have but all are stressed and not happy for the things we don’t have. You have a Santro, but you want City… You have a City, but you want Skoda. Just after buying a new phone, we need another one. Better laptop, bigger TV, faster car, bigger house, more money… .I mean, these examples are endless. The point is, does it actually worth? Do we ever think if we actually ...

STRESS RELIEF - Rock Salt or Sea Salt. What is bad for hypertension is iodized salt, which is a fake salt. It  is made up of only 3 synthetic chemicals, sodium, chloride, iodine. It  does not melt in water (glistens like diamonds), does NOT melt in the  body, does not melt in the kidneys, gives kidney stones, and raises  blood pressure. However, it is the salt favored by the synthetic  drug-based doctors who say it is very clean and sanitary, pointing to  how white it is and how it glistens like diamonds. The fake salt is  man-made in a factory. The true salt, which comes from the sea and dried under the sun and  commonly called rock salt, has 72 natural minerals including natural  sodium, chloride, iodine. It melts in water, melts in your  body, melts  in the kidneys, do not give kidney stones, and best of all brings down  blood pressure and stops/prevents muscle cramps, numbness, tingling. If you get ...

One night President Obama and his wife Michelle decided to do something out of routine and go for a casual dinner at a restaurant that wasn't too luxurious. When they were seated, the owner of the restaurant asked the president's secret service if he could please speak to the First Lady in private. They obliged and Michelle had a conversation with the owner. Following this conversation President Obama asked Michelle, why was he so interested in talking to you. She mentioned that in her teenage years, he had been madly in love with her. President Obama then said, "so if you had married him, you would now be the owner of this lovely restaurant" , to which Michelle responded, "No, if I had married him, he would now be a President " Courtesy: Mail Fwd by Aaron Martins
